D9220 - RYLA 2017

March 17, 2017

Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is Rotary’s leadership training program for young people. The RYLA was a program that originated with Rotary International and has subsequently been specifically designed by Rotary Districts for the Rotaractors and students all around the world. RYLA encourages leadership in youth by recognizing and rewarding deserving members who are chosen to attend RYLA as an "award" for their past and present leadership and service activities. Our members attending these camp sesssion are inspired by a diverse group of exceptional speakers, make life-long friends through fellowship activities, and discuss the ethical and social issues of today. RYLA activities are conducted in an atmosphere of trust and respect. By the end of RYLA 2017, members are expected to return to their clubs and communities motivated to take on additional leadership roles and to find additional ways to serve.

As each year, hundreds of youngster participate in the RYLA which is sponsored by Rotary Clubs and run by the club's district committee. This year, the RYLA took place in Madagascar for Rotaract clubs of District 9220 in a distinct bootcamp themed & seminar style to discuss leadership skills and to learn those skills through practice.
