The Rotaract Club of Mahebourg, partner of the Rotary Club of Mahebourg has launched an education initiative in 2014 at Le Bouchon. The Rotaract Club of Mahebourg following the international guidelines of the Rotary International is an NGO working with six areas of focus: Peace and conflict prevention/resolution, Disease prevention and treatment, Water and sanitation, Maternal and child health, Basic education and literacy, and, Economic and community development.
The Learning Zone is a concept where members of the Rotaract Club of Mahebourg gather on a monthly basis to voluntarily conduct classes with children of Le Bouchon of 7-16 years old. We hope to inculcate the early value of education with the children. We usually help these children in the subjects in which they encounter difficulties and carry out education activities such as quizzes and competitions in order to keep learning in a fun way.

Learning Zone in Collaboration with US Embassy
We have a number of books donated by members of the clubs with which we carry some reading sessions too. We also had the pleasure to collaborate with the United States (US) Embassy via its Uncle Sam’s traveling Library by providing a lot of books for children on Wednesday 2nd December 2015. However, the Learning Zone is also about creating a mutual trust between members of the Rotaract Club of Mahebourg and the children.
We also celebrate many events in order to reach out to more children and to rekindle their interest in books. Face paintings, gifts, hygiene packs, school materials and lunch packs are some among the many activities that we carry out.
Learning Zone in collaboration with Intercontinental Trust Ltd
On Saturday 16th July 2016 while we were having our monthly session, we had the visit of the wonderful team of Intercontinental Trust Limited. They came bearing a lot of gifts, educational packs, food and toys. More importantly, they gave La Chapelle a new look with new paint front and wood work.
